Feature Friday – Kandice Lee Designs

Kandice Dougherty started Kandice Lee Designs after spending most of her life in the education industry. She decided it was time for a drastic change and had been saying for years that she would love to be a stager.

I began to realize I can still use my strengths in teaching, but my students will be taller and I am teaching them how to sell their homes. I jumped in head first and have never looked back!”

Kandice believes that beautiful home staging considers everything from the little things to the big picture. By crafting spaces that are as functional as they are comfortable, her team incorporates an inviting essence into every environment, helping to sell homes faster and for more money.

I felt under valued in the education field although I love children! Now my confidence is through the roof because people understand the value I bring and it is MY business!”

Learn more about Kandice:

When I am not working I enjoy…

Paddle boarding, hiking, camping, tennis, spending time with my family and friends, reading and riding my electric bike!

My goal is…

To continue to grow my business and help as many clients as I can!

When faced with a struggle…

I push through it with prayer and patience!

My go to staging accessory is…

Fake greenery! Large or small it brings life to a space and it doesn’t need water!

Who is your role model and why?

My mom is my role model! She was a teacher and once my siblings and I were grown she went back to school to become a principal. She showed me that it is never too late to do something different!

My morning ritual is…

Relax with my coffee and go through my social media, while watching the today show. Then I go walk my dog, Zeppelin.

In the next 5 years…

I hope to bring on some people to help me like office personnel, assistant designers and movers!

When you are in a rut creatively where do you go or what do you do to get out of it?

I go online to Pinterest, Houzz and others to get ideas. I also will reach out to other stager friends. Another reason to be a RESA® member!

What part of owning your own business is the least enjoyable for you and why?

All of the small organizational things that need to be done with client files, social media and storage etc… So much organizing! That is not my strong suit but, I can design a room in my mind.

What does a perfect day look like to you?

My husband, my kids, my dog and a beautiful day Paddle boarding on a lake in the mountains!

If you could only keep five possessions, what would they be?

My camper, my e-bike, my Paddle board, my box of photos, and my wedding ring. At least I’ll still have a home, a way to get around what brings me joy and the symbol of my husbands love.

My favorite meal after a long day of staging is…

Anything I don’t have to think up or cook!

What do you think about when you are alone in your car?

Every day is different! Most of the time I am thinking about my kids. Other times, I am re-arranging houses that I’ll be staging in my mind.

Right now I am obsessed with…

At Home! It’s a stager’s dream come true!

My personal aesthetic is…

Rustic Colorado

I am…

Loving my new career and am proud of myself for the business I have built in the last 3 years!
