Transforming Spaces and Building a Thriving Staging Business with Jason Saft

Jason Saft, the owner of Staged to Sell, a New York City-based home staging company, shared his experience attending RESACON in 2022 in the latest Stager Talk episode. He described the event as a “game-changer” for his business and recommended it to other home staging professionals. RESACON is an annual conference hosted by the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA®) that provides educational sessions, connections with industry partners, and networking opportunities for home staging professionals from around the world.

For Jason, attending RESACON was an opportunity to learn from other professionals in the industry and gain new insights and knowledge that he could apply to his business, staging “Honestly, the trip has paid for it’s self ten-fold.” He was able to connect with other staging professionals from around the country and internationally, which opened up new opportunities for his business.

Jason also shared his insights on how he approaches his work and manages his time as a home stager. He emphasized the importance of doing cosmetic work on a property before putting it on the market and stressed the significance of professional photography. 

“There is this thing where if the property is left as is, usually empty, not painted, lighting is wrong, light bulbs are wrong, very cheap things to fix, people walk in and they say ‘this is a gut job, I don’t have the bandwidth for a gut job, I don’t have the time for a gut job’. My thing is let’s deal with that now, so we remove that and we make all of those people who would say no, come in and take a look”

At the same time, he recognized that not every property requires a full renovation or overhaul, and it’s essential to be strategic about which projects to take on.

Efficiency and time management are crucial for a busy home stager like Jason. He prioritizes projects that he can complete within a specific timeframe and avoids wasting time on projects that aren’t likely to result in a sale. By being selective about the projects he takes on and focusing on those that offer the greatest potential for success, he has built a thriving business and helped sellers get their properties sold.

In fact, Jason’s expertise in home staging has recently earned him the honor of being named Professional Home Stager of the Year in the Luxury Vacant Staging category for USA by his RESA® peers in 2022.

In addition to his success as a home stager and recent award recognition, Jason Saft will also be speaking at RESACON 2023 on the topic of “Building your brand by design“. Attendees of his session on July 29th will gain a comprehensive understanding of their home staging or design business and learn effective strategies to shape their staging aesthetics in order to attract a more desirable and sustainable clientele.
