What’s on Trend? (Part 3 of 3)

When selling a property, remember that decor does not always have to be the trendiest. Not every buyer likes the sleek, contemporary, no-one-lives-here look, but some trends are universal enough that they will stand the test of time and the buyer appeal test. Here are my picks of this season:

spaRejuvenation Rooms and Wellness Systems

Install a one-stop space for exercising, meditation, yoga and spa treatments. Showers are going upscale, too. Programmable temperatures and water flow, as well as waterfall fixtures, are the next trend for people who prefer showers. Finally, builders are addressing environmental and health concerns with holistic solutions such as heat recovery ventilation systems that filter air continuously and use little energy. Other new ways to improve healthfulness include lighting systems that utilize sunshine, swimming pools that eschew chlorine and salt by featuring a second adjacent pool with plants and gravel that cleanse water, and edible gardens starring ingredients such as curly kale.

On the Rise

Watch for elements that are sustainability conscious; two master suites for multi-generational living, upscale garages, keyless entries, free-standing bathtubs, and believe it or not, home elevators! I first saw home elevators when touring homes in Florida, but after researching them I found information via NAR (National Association of Realtors) that they are a rising trend. Elevators are not only for the uberwealthy. Technology has helped make elevators a practical solution for moving from one level to another. The revolutionary technology of the vacuum elevator has changed the way people and goods are being transported vertically within homes, and in an environmentally friendly manner. Rather than using cables of pistons, the unique residential elevator is powered by one of the most abundant resources in the world – air! Learn more about it at www.vacuumelevators.com.
