Being involved in a Leadership position for the Real Estate Staging Association allows you to get involved with your local staging community, while making a difference in the home staging industry. RESA Headquarters is so thankful for those leaders who are making way in their communities and dedicating their time and knowledge to advance professionalism and excellence in real estate staging.
Reflecting With Nancy Whyte RESA Metro Detroit Chapter VP of Membership
My first experience with leadership was in college. Once I graduated I took a job in Bellaire MI, as the Director of The Antrim County Commission on Aging. Since then I have worked in hospital administration in CA in developing community education programs, volunteer services and specializing in elderly programs.
Leadership followed me in my personal life as well as, sitting on church boards, community boards and HOA’s.
I was drawn to the RESA chapter leadership because I felt it was a good cause. As a stager I could identify with the needs of stagers and also the feeling of being out there on my own with no support.
As VP of Membership I searched for and identified not only RESA stagers in the state of MI, but also non-RESA stagers. My goal was to bring non-RESA stagers on board with RESA National. I communicated with them regularly, a few have joined RESA National and one has also joined the chapter.
If a stager is thinking about becoming a leader, and they all should be thinking about it from the first meeting. I would say ” go for it”! Owning your own business makes you a leader, joining an organization such as a RESA, provides you with leadership models and the role. But you can make that position your own with your personal goals. Being in a group and moving up not only builds your confidence, but it will build your confidence with your business.
In addition to joining the RESA chapter, you are surround exclusively by owners of staging businesses as well as support from board members and members. We want to see everyone succeed.
The staging industry has grown so fast in the past 5 years and I expect it will continue for some time. I would love to see growth in the education of realtors, additional development of chapters, standardization of fees as an industry, as well as additional furniture rental companies who cater to stagers throughout the country.
