2011 March Madness Spring Cleaning charity drive benefiting the SafeHaven Women’s Shelter of Tarrant County and the Genesis Women’s Shelter of greater Dallas, supporting victims of domestic violence coming out of crisis situations.
In our efforts to continue to giveback to our community, during the months on March and April we partnered with 6 real estate agencies located throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, who collected gently used household items from the DFW community. They opened their doors to community residents, and other real estate agencies and businesses to be the drop off location in their area. In addition, two local moving companies were so generous and eager to donate their services to help us collect and deliver donations.
We’re in homes everyday of our clients urging them to edit their belongings to best showcase their homes for sale. Clients are always asking where they can donate their items. It made sense for us to help our clients ready their homes for sale while creating a donation stream to charities that are in need of these household items. This year we chose to donate to our area women shelters. Some of the donated items will be taken directly to the shelters’ emergency housing. The rest will be sold at the shelter stores where 100% of the profits go back into each of the agencies’ programs that support their victims and help them to rebuild their lives.
In addition to generating a lot of smiles, RESA Dallas has generated a lot of good press throughout the real estate industry, our community and our affiliates. We are thrilled with what we have accomplished and look forward to next year!
With one charity drive down, we’re diving right back in this month by emersing ourselves in a project with Dwell with Dignity this month, making a Shared Housing residence for 4 families transitioning out of crisis situation inspiring and beautiful! More details to come!
