We’ve all had to face the fallout in the real estate market; things were difficult heading into the new year, but the stock market decline and the mortgage crisis have made things even more challenging. It’s easy to lose focus, question our career choices, or wonder if it’s worth the time and energy we’re putting into it.
But Feng Shui teaches us that we must correctly channel the energy in our environment if we want to see the benefits of our efforts. So don’t forget to pay attention to your personal environment while you are helping others with theirs. Too much clutter in your work area will limit your ability to focus, so make sure you keep your workspace open and organized. Push out the stagnant chi! You want positive energy moving to support you in your efforts.
Take this opportunity to “feng shui” your workspace. What’s in your wealth corner? Put an upward growing green plant in your wealth corner to reflect your growing income over the next year. What about the helpful people area? Make sure your contact list or address book is here. Extend your efforts outside your work environment. Make sure you have created a personal “quiet” area in your home where you can put aside the cares of the day. A few minutes of relaxation with a good book or soothing music can help put things in perspective.
In Feng Shui, wealth conveys more than financial gain. We want abundance in all aspects of our life, including our relationships with our friends and family. Look at your master bedroom….is it a retreat where two people can spend meaningful time together, or is it just a place to watch a little late night TV before dozing off? If you don’t have a significant partner but wish you did, take a long look at your living space. Maybe the message you’re unintentionally sending is that you prefer being alone.
Finally, look at your fame area. What does it say about you and your successes…past or future? Now, more than ever, being unique is important. While customers may think about saving a few dollars on staging their home, that would be shortsighted. They must have their home correctly staged and ready for the potential buyer who walks through the door. So you have even greater opportunity to convince sellers that their home must stand out in this buyers market. Today’s sellers really have only two choices: stage their home correctly or pull it off the market.
Being unique extends to the services you offer. If you are a Feng Shui Staging Professional, your feng shui background allows you to offer something special in addition to traditional services. If you haven’t studied feng shui, then think about making 2009 the year when you add it to your list of accomplishments. Whether you are a home stager, a realtor, or redesigner, the elements of feng shui will only make your business and personal life stronger.
