Feature Friday – Nashville Design Group

Julia Hansen has almost 20 years of experience as an interior designer in the middle Tennessee area. As the owner and Lead Designer of Nashville Design Group, LLC, she has been able to help many clients with complete renovations or simple restyles here in middle Tennessee and along the beach coast along scenic 30A in Florida. Her love of style, houses, interiors, and redesign made her decision to go into real estate a natural choice.

I had been an interior designer for 20 years in the middle Tennessee area. I began to reach out to real estate agents in the middle Tennessee area and vice versa. Staged homes sell faster and those realtors that know that always outperform the others.”

She loves to make million-dollar looks on a budget and staging to sell. She recently added real estate to the mix by joining the Kirby Group team with Village Real Estate in Nashville. Now she is excited to offer full-service design for her clients with restyling, listing, staging, and selling.

Staging allows me to thrive on my creative energy, bringing the design together with my love for finding the hidden potential in a house. It is so gratifying to hear a house speak to a buyer because of a feeling I helped create. It’s all about marrying a buyer to a house through love.”

When asked why she chooses to be a part of the Real Estate Staging Association®, Julia shares:

I love the community and support system RESA® brings to my business.”

In the next 5 years…

I hope to be staging more vacation homes at the beach and selling them as well.

Who is your role model and why?

My mom who allowed me to play in my dollhouse for hours as a child and taught me to have a passion for creativity.

When you are in a rut creatively where do you go or what do you do to get out of it?

I look for inspiration and it always takes me in a new direction.

What project are you really excited about right now and why?

I have just become a real estate agent in Nashville and am excited about listing and selling my first house.

What does a perfect day look like to you?

Coffee, a long walk or tennis match, shopping for clients, doing a design installation, dinner, and wine.

What do you think about when you are alone in your car?

How I am going to redo rooms in my house or change the exteriors of houses I am passing on the road to better them.

What part of owning your own business is the least enjoyable for you and why?

I don’t love doing invoices and keeping up with paperwork but it is so necessary.

I love what I do because…

It allows me to use my creative side and it’s like playing to me…not working.

My motto is…

Make it Happen!

When I am not working I enjoy…

Hanging out at our beach house with my husband and two children.

My favorite meal after a long day of staging is…

A steak off the grill with a glass of wine.

Would you rather stage an occupied listing or vacant?

Vacant all day long!  I love to bring in my own inventory but staging an occupied listing is definitely more of a challenge which can be fun!
