Take-aways From This Episode:

  • “The pivotal point was when I stopped working in the business and started working on the business.” – Todd McAllister
  • “You can not be big enough to start in inventory, I don’t care if its StageForce or a competitor, but get your stuff inventoried and start now the sooner the better because when you start when you’re small it will be maintenance that you will continue to do with your business,  if you start when you have 10k plus items its going to take a long time to get everything in the system. A lot of people think they will wait until they have enough inventory but by that time its too much and they can’t wrap their brain around it and don’t want to inventory it” – Tamara Holloway
  • “Since the industry is still fairly new, we are still trying to find our way so its very exciting to try different things.. we opened up a location in Boise it wasn’t working out, we gave it 6 months. Try something and give it a deadline, if it doesn’t work cut the cord and move on there is nothing wrong with failure. I think there is more knowledge and learning in failure than there is in accomplishments.”  – Todd McAllister
  • “I would say 90% of potential clients I ask them how are you inventorying your items, how big is your warehouse, how many items do you have? People can usually tell me how big their warehouse is on average, maybe around 2,000 square feet but they can never tell me how many items they have, never… most tell me it’s all up here (points to her head) which is exactly why Tori created the program, because it was all “up here” – Tamara Holloway
  • “It is very hard when you start a business and you are the business.. to let go because you are afraid someone is going to screw up…. I still felt if I wasn’t doing it all it wasn’t going to get done right or to the level I wanted it to be, but when you start to let go of things and trust in your team and educate them they are going to do it for you because by human nature people want to do their best job. You just have to be ok with the fact things will go wrong…. You have to learn to move on and not dwell on it”   – Todd McAllister
