Angela Arnold RESA Indianapolis Chapter President Reflects on 2018

Being involved in a Leadership position for the Real Estate Staging Association allows you to get involved with your local staging community, while making a difference in the home staging industry. RESA Headquarters is so thankful for those leaders who are making way in their communities and dedicating their time and knowledge to advance professionalism and excellence in real estate staging.

Reflecting With Angela Arnold RESA Indianapolis Chapter President

1. When did you get involved in leadership?
I became involved in leadership when I did the legwork to launch the RESA Indianapolis Chapter in October of 2017 and was elected President to the local chapter.
2. What made you decide to get involved in RESA leadership?

When I was initially considering getting into this industry I came across the RESA National website and couldn’t find a local chapter. I reached out to several local firms to get a feel for the industry. At that time (2015), no one would talk to me or return my calls. As a result, I knew there was a need for a local chapter and attended a break-out session on leadership at RESACON in July 2017.  I returned to Indianapolis and did the legwork to launch the RESA Indianapolis Chapter in October 2017.

3. What do you hope to see for the staging industry in the next 5 years?
Within the next 5 years I’d like to see required continuing education and professional regulation for this industry. We (stagers) work very closely with both Realtors and lenders on a day-to-day basis. Both of those industries are heavily regulated with an enforceable code of ethics/conduct. If the staging industry is going to grow and continue, then we need to step up into this arena. Once there are enforceable regulations and required continuing education, then I believe more states will be willing to pass the ‘Staging to Sell‘ course for continuing education credits for Realtors. This is key to achieve our (RESA) national objective of education.
