2018 RESA Greater St. Louis Chapter President Courtney Schomburg Reflects

Being involved in a Leadership position for the Real Estate Staging Association allows you to get involved with your local staging community, while making a difference in the home staging industry. RESA Headquarters is so thankful for those leaders who are making way in their communities and dedicating their time and knowledge to advance professionalism and excellence in real estate staging.

Reflecting With Courtney Schomburg RESA 2018 Greater St. Louis Chapter President

1. When did you get involved in leadership?

I got involved in 2017 as the Chapter President-Elect.

2. What made you decide to get involved in RESA leadership?

We did not have a RESA chapter in St. Louis.  I headed the movement to create a chapter here, because I feel it is important to have a group of likeminded people in your area to learn from and grow with as a community.

3. What are you most proud of accomplishing during your time in RESA leadership?

I am most proud of starting a chapter with three active members and growing it over the past few years to over fifteen active members. Our chapter continues to grow because of the value we bring to each member at the meetings.

4. What advice do you have for others who are interested in being involved with RESA leadership?

My advice would be to go all in! If you got elected to a leadership position people are now depending on you to do your part. The only way a chapter can grow and thrive is if everyone does their part. Work together and make things happen.

5. What was your favorite chapter meeting this year?

My favorite chapter meeting this year was when we had a Feng Shui expert teach us about the importance of using Feng Shui in staging. I was so impressed by her that I hired her to “Feng Shui” my personal house that was sitting on the market with no offers.  The day after she came and cleared the energy and made a few minor changes we had two offers on our house.  I will be forever grateful for that RESA meeting because I can truly say it helped sell my house!

6. What have you gained from being a part of leadership?

I have gained a confidence in myself and this industry. I am proud to be part of this amazing industry and feel that being in leadership has forced me to push myself and our local chapter members to raise the bar and work hard to ensure staging standards are in place and followed through out our community.

7. Did you face any fears while being involved with leadership and if so how did you handle them?

My fear was that local stagers would not want to attend meetings with the competition. Because our market is so saturated, I felt it would be hard to convince people to take the time out of their days to attend a meeting. I over came this fear by personally calling each stager and inviting them to a meeting. I make it my mission to go above and beyond for any new stagers that attend a meeting to make them feel at home.
