RESA® Member, Yaneyra Hilario is the lead stager and founder of Design By Yani H. She started in design gaining many years of experience as an interior designer for the US Beauty Division at Takara Belmont, where she brought to life the clientele vision with space planning and custom furniture design. However, it was her work for a home staging company while she was still in design school that left a lasting impression.
I liked the flexibility we had over the design, it was at a fast pace, and every home was unique. Every two to three weeks we were designing a new layout. It was so fun and love the atmosphere.
In 2022, Yaneyra took the leap and started Design By Yani H. Her goal is to provide homeowners and agents with high-quality staging and design services that will give you fast results and takes pride in maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction.
I had experience working as an assistant for an interior designer. Design and staging are totally different from each other, but I love the key factors for the home staging business. I love helping people. I feel a lot better helping more clients in this aspect.
Yaneyra has been a RESA® Member since 2021 and completed both a Staging Design Professional, Expert Level and Short-Term Rental Stylist certifications from RESA® Accredited Education Provider, Staging Studio.

Where do you draw inspiration from for your staging?
My inspiration comes from the architecture fixture of the property, the location, and something else I like to add to my inspiration is, what type of buyer the agent likes to bring into the property. With those three components in mind I create my design idea accordingly.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love spending time with my daughter, friends and some “me time” in between.

What were you doing before your staging career and how have those skillsets helped in home staging?
I graduated from New York School of Interior Design in 2015, worked mainly in the hospitality and commercial industry for 7 years. My last 8-5 job was creating furniture design and beauty salon planning design. I am very skilled in space planning, auto-cad, and furniture selection.
What is the next step in your staging career?
I want to continue growing in the staging business, become an influencer and help emerging stagers and agents.
What do you think about when you are alone in your car?
How to become one percent better everyday.
What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to working with clients?
When they want to know what furniture style I will bring to the property. Why do they want to know? I don’t think it makes any difference if they know or not. I usually show them past designs & properties so they can see my style and I let them know that their home will be just as splendid as the one in the image, nothing less.

What was your first day on the job like? Tell us all the details!
It is a very fun, and thrilling story! I did not have any furniture to stage two apartments properly. I utilized most of my home furniture. I asked family members and friends to lend me furniture and accessories. A friend that worked at a self-storage facility used to call me to check on units full of furniture before they were thrown to the dumpster. It was epic! Everyone was helping me out. The property got multiple offers during the open house and sold above asking price two weeks from being listed.
Then after, I wanted to go to the Big Apple, and I did! There, I staged my first multimillion dollar property. I just want to grow in the business and continue helping others with my services.
