Feature Friday Bridge City Staging

Amy Lang is the founder of Bridge City Staging, a virtual staging boutique serving the Portland metro area. Inspired by her sister and niece, who built their own successful staging company, Amy took the leap to leave a corporate setting and get into staging. Even with the pandemic hitting not too long after receiving her Master Level Staging Design Professional certification from RESA® Accredited Education Provider, Staging Studio, she persisted and used her 30-years of computer experience to launch a virtual home staging company.

“I’ve set out to change the stigma around virtual staging, by providing virtual staging with a personal touch. I personally consult with the agent over which photos will best represent their property and then using my traditional staging experience I virtually stage the images with on-trend, price point appropriate furnishings.”

Giving back is an important part of the mission at Bridge City Staging, which is why 10% of each service is donated to the Oregon Food Bank to help eliminate hunger in her community. Amy gives back to the home staging industry as a Real Estate Staging Association® member and participates in her local RESA® Portland Chapter.

“I find strength in being part of the staging community and really enjoy the relationships I have gained through my local Portland chapter. There is something of value in RESA® for everyone, whether you do vacant, occupied or virtual staging. RESA® provides important educational opportunities and resources and I believe that together we can build all our businesses.”

Learn more about Amy:

My favorite meal after a long day of staging is…

Boboli pizza crust dipped in baked goat cheese and marinara sauce with fresh basil…plus a glass of red wine.

Right now I am obsessed with…

Following my client’s listings and tracking the time on market. I really enjoy being part of their marketing team.

When I am not working I enjoy…

Being with my husband and our two rescue dogs Axel and Gracie. We run the Portland Boxer Activity Club where various boxer dogs meet to play in a safe environment.

My motto is…

I am in charge of how I feel and I choose joy.

My personal aesthetic is…

Streamlined, minimalist, clean lines, tonal with pops of color.

My morning ritual is…

To read a morning devotional while sipping on coffee and a La Croix.

Who is your role model and why?

Elizabeth Connolly is my role model. She has shown me that with a vision, hard work and believing in yourself you can do anything you put your mind to.

My go to staging accessory is…

Pillows with texture and color can change the whole look of room.

What part of owning your own business is the least enjoyable for you and why?

Taxes…need I say more?

What do you think about when you are alone in your car?

I listen to music in my car and sing at the top of my lungs, leading me to think that I would never have a singing career.

If you could only keep five possessions, what would they be?

My loved ones, my dogs… everything else is replaceable.

What project are you really excited about right now and why?

I’ve developed a presentation about how to increase the value of a listing with virtual staging, showing bad virtual staging vs. virtual staging by Bridge City Staging and have been presenting it to a few local real estate firms. I’m excited to reach out to other firms and educate them on the power of GOOD virtual staging.

What does a perfect day look like to you?

Doing a job I love, that way it doesn’t feel like a job, it’s a joy.

When you are in a rut creatively where do you go or what do you do to get out of it?

I follow many of the RESA® members on Instagram and Facebook and love seeing how they adapt to use their existing inventory in new and exciting ways.

Good staging should…

Good virtual staging should highlight the features of the home and be staged with furniture that would realistically be in the price point of the house.

In the next 5 years…

I would like to expand into offering virtually staging of Matterport 3D virtual tours.
