An Update From The RESA Chairperson Courtney Schomburg

As most of you know, 2019 was an exciting and bittersweet year for me and my partner, Liz Connolly. We sold our hugely successful staging company that we put thirteen years of our lives into and moved to beautiful Sarasota FL! It was the best decision we have ever made!  Don’t get me wrong, I love staging, but my heart has always been at the beach. While Liz has been enjoying retirement life, I have been working relentlessly on starting my newest ventures here in paradise. Besides managing my vacation rental company, Pink Pineapple Properties, I recently launched a brand-new staging company, Scott Silver Staging, with an incredible partner here in Sarasota. I am beyond excited to start staging again and to grow this business bigger and better than our last one. Enough about me though!

In case you didn’t know, RESA is run by the National Board of Directors (BOD). It’s a BIG job, but we are dedicated to taking RESA to the next level. We collectively make the big decisions that ultimately pave the way for growth and development for RESA and the staging industry as a whole.

Have you heard about the incredible team of professionals that make up your 2020 BOD? I am thrilled to work with such an inspiring group of experts as we navigate this big ship together this year. Ryan Marsh, OnStage Home Staging, is stepping into his second year as our fearless treasurer. This guy knows business and finance and he is pushing the BOD to look at things in totally different ways than we have in the past. I am thrilled to welcome Bobbie McGrath, Successful Staging; Richard Kline, Sought + Found and Christine Rae, founder of CSP International Staging Business Training Academy, to the team this year. I know you will see amazing results from this incredible team of professionals because we are passionate about working for the betterment of the staging industry!

Speaking of working hard for the benefit of the industry, did you know that your RESA BOD held our inaugural Mastermind retreat in Nashville, TN last month! We decided that in order to best serve YOU we needed to all be on the same page and have a clear vision of where we see RESA and the staging industry as we head into 2020.  We worked tirelessly from sun up to sun down (with a little fun in- between) putting plans together, evaluating numbers, and looking at the RESA by-laws. Ryan, always business focused, received a little push back from the rest of us creatives a few times, but once we dove headfirst into the SWOT analysis we understood, and the bigger picture became crystal clear.  We became excited to see the results play out as we debated each point, talked through pros and cons and ultimately agreed on solutions that are going to empower this association and support stagers all over the country! The retreat was full of ‘Ah-ha’ moments, spirited conversations, and high-level brainstorming all to provide you with the highest return on investment for your RESA membership! We even got to meet (in person) and have dinner with the RESA Greater Nashville Chapter board of directors and one of our amazing local RESA Accredited Home Staging Training Providers, Kristie Barnett founder of the Expert Psychological Stager™ Course! Its always nice to have real world experiences with the people who dedicate their time and talent to this amazing organization.

The BOD would not be able to provide the service and take the lead on initiatives without RESA HQ. The ladies behind the scenes work relentlessly at putting our ideas into action, lobbying for the industry, collecting stats, and most of all helping you, our members on a day to day basis. I am grateful to have this group of extraordinary hardworking ladies taking care of business and facilitating our visions coming to life.

One of the most important initiatives for me personally this year is to work more with YOU, the association members. I want to hear from you! Have you been chatting with real estate agents about what they want/need from a professional stager?  Do you have an amazing idea for RESA or have a vision for where you think the staging community should be headed in 2020? E-mail me! I would love to hear from you all! I am here to listen because you are the “boots on the ground” squad that lives and breathes staging! Let’s make 2020 the best year ever for RESA and the staging community because diversity is our strength, and unity is our POWER!
