Who Is Cindy Lin?

Cindy Lin is the founder of Staged4more’s successful home staging school, accredited by RESA (the Real Estate Staging Association).

Even from a young age, Cindy always had her heart in business. She is a third-generation small business owner who at the age of 25, founded Staged4more in her parents’ garage.

This acute business sense clearly shows now that her company has become a global brand in home staging. Staged4more now operates remotely, and the future looks even brighter.

In additions to home staging, Cindy has a diverse range of creative backgrounds: a freelance creative, building sets and windows for companies like Anthropologie, Ralph Lauren and Saks Fifth Avenue, designing decor for commercial and private events, worked on photo shoots as a prop and wardrobe assistant for companies like O Magazine, Target, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Google, and Apple and freelanced as a florist in London, building floral arrangements for high-end hotels and restaurants.

She also hosts—The Home Staging Show Podcast—the longest-running home staging-specific podcast since 2015.

Taking Staged4more Through the RESA Accreditation Process..

You might wonder why Cindy Lin put her course through the RESA accreditation process and what it means for Staged4more to be accredited by RESA.

The answer is simple: because she cares about her students. She wants to ensure they get the best education possible and learn the skills they need to succeed in this industry.

Our school is pretty young compared to the other training programs in the market. Through feedback from our community and students, we know that we are putting out great courses and educational content for stagers. But to receive industry recognition from an organization like RESA means a lot to us. It feels that we are more legitimized and we are excited to be part of the RESA community.

Being accredited by RESA is a big deal. It means that the “5-Figure Floor Plan” course by Staged4more meets the highest standards in the industry despite being a young school compared to other training programs in the market. So if you are thinking of becoming a home stager, or you are already a home stager looking to further your education, then Staged4more is the place for you.

What Makes Cindy’s Training Unique?

There are quite a few things that make Staged4more unique:

  • The online courses allow the flexibility for busy home stagers and budding home stagers who are just starting and may still be working full time somewhere.
  • The courses are current with today’s social and real estate trends, which is essential in today’s marketplace, especially with Gen Z entering the home-buying market. They ensure that they update their courses to make sure that students are getting the most current knowledge that they can provide
  • As a stager, you can access a wide range of courses, from the beginning, foundational types of courses, to more advanced topics like system building, to specific topics and areas in home staging businesses like workflows, legal, etc. In due course of the year, they will also be rolling out a coaching program for home stagers.
  • They also offer two levels of Certification programs that are multi months. During which, students can dive into courses they offer, mastermind with like-minded stagers, get weekly group coaching sessions, accountability check-in from the Student Concierge, plus 1:1 coaching sessions.
  • They will now also start hosting in-person immersive retreats to help stagers dive into their staging businesses. The first international one is this October in Italy.

What advice Does Cindy Lin Have for Aspiring Home Stagers?

Cindy advises that it is important to have clarity around why you want to become a home stager. The intention needs to be precise. Staging can look very fun and appealing on TV shows and films, but at the end of the day, it is still a business. Starting a home staging business will also impact your personal life and assets. It is vital to consider those things and understand why you want a career in staging and what that looks like for you.

It is easy to start a business, anyone can do it by going down to their city hall and handing in the paperwork. But to sustain and build a successful and fulfilling home staging business takes grit, strategies and business skills. Having a knack for styling interiors and wanting to be creative are simply not enough to create a sustainable home staging business for the long run.

I understand that completely, because I went through it when I started my home staging business at 25. I didn’t understand what it meant to run a business, so I made a lot of mistakes. I felt ashamed, embarrassed and frustrated that I didn’t know what I was doing. My staging business wasn’t sustainable for a long time. I didn’t understand how profits worked.
