Being involved in a Leadership position for the Real Estate Staging Association allows you to get involved with your local staging community, while making a difference in the home staging industry. RESA Headquarters is so thankful for those leaders who are making way in their communities and dedicating their time and knowledge to advance professionalism and excellence in real estate staging.
Reflecting With Janie Jensen RESA Silicon Valley Chapter President-Elect
1. When did you get involved in leadership?
Our RESA Silicon Valley chapter was started in 2017 and I was appointed as President-Elect at that time.
2. What made you decide to get involved in RESA leadership?
I really wanted to start a Silicon Valley Chapter and after connecting with Arti Ramnathkar and Judy Piper at RESACON 2017, we made it our mission to connect with other stagers in Silicon Valley in hopes of getting a chapter started.
I live by the motto that says if you want something bad enough you need to be able to be responsible and try to make it happen–hence we wanted a chapter and we needed leadership.
We connected with Lilly Rahbar, an experienced stager who in turn connected with Sara Arlin, another experienced stager. Sara was willing to be President, Lilly was willing to be Secretary, Arti became VP of Membership, and I became President-Elect. We created an Education Coordinator position and Judy Piper was willing to take that job on.—- HENCE we had a chapter and we had leaders.
3. What are you most proud of accomplishing during your time in RESA leadership?
I am most proud of the fact that 18 months ago we created a chapter, built an organization, invited new and experienced stagers to join, and have had some great speakers, and now have a good core of members attending monthly. Our board has been a cohesive force, and we have provided support to members of our organization.
4. What advice do you have for others who are interested in being involved with RESA leadership?
Be willing to commit to take on the challenge but remember that you are never alone. You have the support of your State President, RESA Headquarters Staff, including the CEO Shell and VP Gina who are there to support you. At any time you can reach out to members of the National Board as well as other chapter leaders.
