Get To Know Lilly Rahbar RESA Silicon Valley President-Elect

The RESA Silicon Valley Chapter was started in May of 2017 and has formed to 15 members from all over the southern San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. They meet the last Friday of each month to network, share ideas, and learn from industry professionals about how they can grow their home staging business.

In January the RESA Silicon Valley Chapter welcomed in the 2019 board members. The board members on our local chapters volunteer their time and expertise to help grow and navigate the chapters business and promote professionalism in home staging. Lilly Rahbar who served as the 2018 chapter secretary was elected the 2019 RESA Silicon Valley Chapter President-Elect. I had a chance to ask Lilly a few questions to get to know her a little bit better.

Get To Know RESA Silicon Valley Chapter President-Elect:

How long have you been staging?
Since Dec 2007

What are you most excited for in 2019 in regards to your local chapter?
I’m excited to expand our exposure to the many stagers that are operating in the Bay Area and having the ability to network, mix & mingle with our colleagues as well as spread the word about RESA.

What goals do you have for your position on your local RESA board?
My goal is to help our Chapter grow, continue coordinating speakers, new ideas, etc so that we can provide beneficial information to our colleagues, as well as assist the Chapter President where needed.

What is your favorite meal after a long day of staging?
Whatever is quick, easy and comes from the microwave.

What type of music do you listen do while staging?
Depends on my mood. I can go from old school hip-hop Rob Bass to Steve Miller or Ozzy.

What is your best advice for anyone who is looking to get into the staging industry?
My best advice is to reach out to seasoned stagers for guidance, feedback and ask many questions. I have been contacted numerous times by new stagers and have helped direct them to furniture suppliers, best places to shop, provide back-end management ideas, etc.

What would you share with someone who is thinking about attending their local RESA chapter?
I would share that even though we are competitors, we are still a strong network of stagers that love to help each other out, provide valuable information to help them grow and network with our guest speakers.

What did you do before you were a home stager?
For many years, I worked in Advertising Sales for a software developer magazine and Event Planning. After I got married and started a family, I was a stay at home mom for the first 5 years and in between that time, I sold jewelry for Premier Designs which helped supplement our income as well as provide an outlet for me to interact with adults!

Who is one stager or designer you would like to shadow for a day?
Orlando Reyes

What do you enjoy doing with your free time?
Catching up on my General Hospital while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.
