This session is designed to give confidence and structure in doing an owner occupied staging. Being prepared professionally with a checklist and goal in addressing all concerns you may find in an owner occupied home. You will understand what is important and makes a difference that will allow your staging to stand out among the completion on the market by maximizing the use of the space you’re working with. Most importantly, how to work with homeowners knowing they could be personally attached to their homes and furnishing, and yet be sensitive to their feelings in the process of staging their homes.
Learning Objectives
- To educate stagers on how to work with homeowners in a professional way to earn their trust and confidence in working together through a guideline and/or checklist to show consistency with your ideas and suggestions. This will make every stager more confident in the way they come across to their clients, agents and homeowners.
- Show ways to maximize value to the homeowner by creating rooms that buyers will be drawn to. Showcasing focal points, architectural features and space to show value and purpose in each room. How to understand your demographic buyer and what is important to their lives.
- Addressing issues regarding marketing your house vs living in your house and why homeowners need to detach from their own homes and what happens when they do vs what happens when they don’t.

Who is Helen?
A national award winning home stager and home stylist, Helen Bartlett has been staging homes in the 
metro Kansas City area in both Kansas and Missouri since 2011. She is the owner of Refined Interior Staging Solutions, a full service home staging and design company. She has been awarded several national home staging awards including the Top Rising Star Award for Home Stagers in North America (2013), the Top 10 Professional Home Stagers in the United States for Vacant Homes, Owner Occupied Homes and Redesign work (2015-2017). In 2017 she was recognized as RESA’s Top Professional Home Stager for Occupied Homes. Also recognized on Houzz, she has been awarded several years of service awards as well as “Influencer” and “Recommended” badges for her professional profile. In addition she was named as 2017 Top Influencer in Interior Design” by fixr.com. Her work has been featured on local television in the Kansas City area, The Kansas City Star (newspaper) as well as Kansas City Homes & Style Magazine.
Helen was featured on NAR’s (National Association of Realtors) Center for Realtor Development Podcast “The Role of Staging in Selling Your House.”
Helen recently co-authored a home staging book called “Home Staging, The Power That Sells Real Estate.” She was featured as the expert on Owner Occupied Stagings.
Helen also recently served as President of the RESA Kansas City Regional Chapter and is currently the RESA Kansas State President.
Felicia has a background in production design and studied at Academy Of Art University where she had a focus in Motion Pictures And Television. In her free time you can find her reading about the latest marketing trends or hanging out with her husband in Disneyland.
