January 28th-29th, 2019 marked the first RESA Connect Toronto event and it did not disappoint! Held at TIDC (Toronto International Design Centre) on Airport Road in Mississauga, we had the pleasure of hearing from multiple speakers throughout the two-day event.
Let’s break it down.
The first day began with a lovely breakfast and mingling among the attendees. Shauna Lynn Simon, RESA Ontario Provincial President welcomed all attendees and broke down the two-day event.
Our first celebrity speaker of the day was none other than Jane Lockhart! Her witty personality mixed with her intense design knowledge had us all giggling and writing notes furiously. She spoke about today’s design trends, what to watch out for and what trends are completely dead.
Bringing it back to business, we had our second speaker of the day Andrew Patricio provide us all with a very vibrant presentation. Andrew spoke of pricing ourselves and our services correctly to earn the most profit in our businesses and showed us his secret to pricing effectively.
Following Andrew, we all shared an amazing lunch of nourishing foods & desserts. Throughout our lunch, we heard from all the sponsors which included Second Closet, Elite Furniture, Executive Furniture Rental, Zuo, Stager’s Choice, Prowl Communications, Stager’s Warehouse & WOW 1-Day Painting
Following our lunch, we heard from our third keynote speaker Damian Reid. Damien spoke in depth about the 6 steps to business mastery and left everyone in the room in awe.
In true Canadian fashion, we had an epic snowstorm and one of our breakout speakers- Tina Marie – was not able to make it! As a result, we all had the opportunity to listen to Red Barrineuvo speak about his hacks of turning a home staging business into a profitable design business – he has even helped design celebrity homes!
Bundling up, everyone headed home after the first day of sessions.
Following an empowering Day 1, we had the opportunity to listen to both of our scheduled breakout speakers on Day 2.
Our first breakout speaker Claire Jefford spoke about managing clients expectations and setting boundaries with clients. Our second breakout speaker, Karen MacIntosh, was all about the money, honey! Helping us learn about financial stability and extra streams of revenue.
Following our breakout speakers we had the much-anticipated tour of TIDC showrooms, a final thank you and attended the Gift Fair.
