Reflecting With The 2018 Houston Chapter President

Being involved in a Leadership position for the Real Estate Staging Association allows you to get involved with your local staging community, while making a difference in the home staging industry. RESA Headquarters is so thankful for those leaders who are making way in their communities and dedicating their time and knowledge to advance professionalism and excellence in real estate staging.

Reflecting With Shelley Barndollar RESA  2018 Houston Chapter President:

1. When and why did you get involved in leadership?

I have been in leadership since 2017, when the previous president asked me if I’d like to be on the board.  I really thought it would be fun to have camaraderie.

2. What are you most proud of accomplishing during your time in RESA leadership?

I am so proud to say that the RESA Houston Chapter is still up and going.  We’ve had struggles in the past two years, we pulled together and some of us took on extra roles.  We did it and we stayed together and made it work.

3. What advice do you have for others who are interested in being involved with RESA leadership?

Do it!  It’s something I have never done before.  I have learned SOOO much from being on a board.  It not only is good professionally to say you are the RESA Houston Chapter President (or whatever position), it gives you credibility in the real estate and staging community but it also helps your self-esteem and gives you a sense of pride in yourself.

4. What do you hope to see for the staging industry in the next 5 years?

I really hope we can see some kind of industry standards coming out, not so much legislation but community-wise, having good communication between stagers that charge WAY below their worth and value.  This just drags the industry down and it’s a constant issue with price shoppers who don’t know good staging and what staging is worth!

5. What have you gained from being a part of leadership?
I have learned an amazing amount of knowledge within the staging community that I never knew before.  I also have gained a tremendous amount of self-esteem and pride in what I do. I try to be a good mentor to other stagers whenever I can.  I hope to be able to continue to grow as a professional home stager and grow my company with my knowledge and achievements within RESA.
