Studio D Staging & Redesign – RESA Feature Friday

Danielle Miller of Studio D Staging & RedesignRESA Feature Friday

Northern California native, Danielle Miller is the founder and owner of Studio D Staging & Redesign. Danielle originally entered the real estate industry by getting her real estate license, but learned that she didn’t feel as excited about that side of the business. With encouragement from a friend, she put her “eye for design” to work and jumped into home staging.

I wish I had made that choice years ago! I took training from HSR, and slowly built inventory, while joining my local chapter, which helped so much in the decision making process of my business.

Danielle is a graduate of RESA Accredited Home Staging Education Provider, Home Staging Resource and currently serves as Secretary of the RESA Sacramento Regional Chapter.

I enjoy giving and getting support from others in the same profession. I have learned extensively from being in this group!

We did a quick interview with Danielle to help us get to know her and Studio D Staging & Redesign a little better.

How did you come up with your business name?

Studio D Staging and Redesign – the D is the first letter of my name.

When you are in a rut creatively where do you go or what do you do to get out of it?

Take a break, deep breaths, and try to think outside of the box.

Tell us about your most rewarding staging job.

A few months ago a prospective seller went to my clients’ open house that I had staged. The seller loved my staging so much that she requested that my client be her agent to sell her $2m dollar home. My agent’s clients were so impressed with the fact that they were able to secure the listing because of me!

What project are you really excited about right now and why?

Since it is moving towards the holidays, things are starting to slow down, but I am really looking forward to what 2023 has to offer!

What is the next step in your staging career?

Growth! Adding employees, lightening my load so that I can focus more on design and less on the marketing and logistics portion of the business.

What was your first day on the job like?

Scary, but wonderful at the same time. It was so much fun just rolling up my sleeves and working towards the beautiful end result!

What part of owning your own business is the least enjoyable for you and why?

Same as everyone else, I suspect, movers!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Both of my girls play travel softball. I enjoy having a career that allows me to set my own schedule, take weekends off, and watch them play.

What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to working with clients?

“Stagents” and homeowners who have a long list of recommendations of what I need to be installing in the home. I am the expert, leave it to me, please.

What do you think about when you are alone in your car?

If I grabbed the right size bedskirt!

Where do you draw inspiration from for your staging?

Magazines, books, design websites, Pinterest. I also enjoy looking at photos of my more established fellow stagers’ work as well.

What do you wish real estate agents knew about the “behind the scenes” of your business?

That staging is a planning process. A lot of time and thought must go into a project. We don’t just ride around with a truck full of inventory to stage a house. We need ample time for the design portion, packing and scheduling.
