The 2020 Naval Color by HomeRoots

Each year, we wait with bated breath for the various “of the Year” designations.  There is HGTV’s Designer of the Year, Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, The Toy Foundation’s Toy of the Year, and Purina’s Show Dog of the Year…and this is just to name a few.  The most anticipated of these designations is Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year.  Led by Director of Color Marketing, Sue Wadden, the Sherwin-Williams global color and design team travels the world to research and identify key trends that influence the way we interact with color. On September 23rd, Sherwin-Williams announced Naval SW 6244 as the 2020 Color of the Year. Or more simply, Naval, a standout hue that sits comfortably with the blues.

Naval merges the desire for rich, inspiring color with our yearning for relaxation and retreat.” – Sue Wadden

Color affects everything related to our homes.  If you are selling a house, the colors you choose for the interior can have an impact on the amount of time it takes to sell your house.  The right colors can get a house sold sooner, decreasing the amount of time a house is on the market. Additionally, the right colors can also increase the value of the offers being made on a house.

While we are living in them, our homes are our sanctuaries from the chaos outside.  We want to make them feel as relaxing as possible. Color can do that for us, and blue, in particular, is a hue that will make an interior space feel calm and relaxing.  If you can’t paint, or don’t want to paint, there are other ways of injecting this color into your décor, that will be just as relaxing as if you had painted your walls.

“The use of color in interior design is changing. It’s not just about what a space looks like anymore, but how it makes you feel,” – Sue Wadden

For interior designers, and home stagers, painting a client’s walls may not always be an option – for any number of reasons.  It should not, however, be an obstacle to creating a relaxing space for your clients. The challenge becomes infusing color into a relatively blank space.  This can be achieved through creative, color impacted, Homeroots.co home furnishings.  The deep, rich hues of blue will pop, and yet still create a space that is welcoming, calm, and relaxing.  Your clients will appreciate not only your attention to detail, but your attention to their well being.
