After graduating with a degree in Cosmetology, RESA® Member, Jenny Ruhland did what a large percentage of graduates do and shift paths. When Jenny met her husband, Austin she realized real estate and design was her true passion. Shortly after college the two moved to Fort Collins to start sowing their seeds.
After rehabbing multiple single-family homes and remodeling their own home in their early 20’s they saw a need for a quality staging company and jumped in full time. In 2017, HomeSpun Staging + Design was launched with a vision in mind that pleasing and relatable spaces can be obtainable.
We saw a need, and the rest fell into place, with hard work! Doing good, honest work will launch your business, it did for us.
HomeSpun Staging + Design offers clients in Northern Colorado area, vacant staging, staging consultation, photo preparation, and design services. Jenny and Austin have grown into a leading staging companies in Northern Colorado with the inventory to stage 50+ homes at one given time.
We believe that good design tells a story. Each project is unique, and we’re confident that together we can bring your vision to life.

Where do you draw inspiration from for your staging?
We love staying current with trends and being creative how to implement in our business. We love market research, reels and Instagram!
What do you enjoy to do outside of work?
Making sourdough bread, spending time with my family, traveling and skiing.
Did you have a career outside of staging? If so, how has skillsets from your previous career transfer over?
I was a cosmetologist in my former life so no transfer. My husband is a contractor and I was helping with selections and sourcing on the side.
How did you come up with your business name?
It is a spin off of my husband’s construction company.

What is the next step in your staging career?
Hiring some assistance and continuing to grow.
When you are in a rut creatively where do you go or what do you do to get out of it?
I take a day off to reset then get back to the grind! Seeing what others are doing is also very motivating and inspiring.
What part of owning your own business is the least enjoyable for you and why?
Taxes, wow they can be overwhelming and tedious.
What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to working with clients?
Unwillingness to complete our recommendations or lack of communication.

What do you think about when you are alone in your car?
Usually on the phone or eating!
If you could only keep five possessions, what would they be?
Face moisturizer, Birkenstocks, Phone, Hair Scrunchy, and Infrared Sauna.
What project are you really excited about right now, and why?
Spring market and the fresh listings that come with it.
What do you wish real estate agents knew about the BTS of your business?
The amount of work the happens behind the scenes. It’s not just what they see for the installation!
