Despite the chilly start to the day and during a most busy spring season, members took a day off work and gave back to the community by volunteering their time, skills and elbow grease, for Habitat for Humanity’s Women’s Build Week. Women’s Build is a program designed for women to learn basic construction skills while assisting building homes for those in need. Tasks ranged from hauling doors up two flights of stairs to installing new wood floors. Some were lucky enough to work alongside their daughters who volunteered as well! The rest of the day included grouting and even siding the exterior…..great skills were brought and taught….nothing was lost on these home stagers who will use their knowledge with future projects, to be sure. . Experience is not required…you too can learn how to use a table saw or nail gun as many did during this awe-inspiring transformation. This program brings attention to the housing crisis facing millions of women and children worldwide through teamwork and charity. What an amazing day which included lunch and some amazing home-baked cookies. All sights on next year to include even more members.
